Ketzal for iPhone
Know What's In Your Food Before It's In Your Cart.
Scan a grocery barcode. See how processed it is, how the nutrition stacks up, and whether it has something you avoid. Scanning is free and needs no account.
Free on the App Store, for iPhone in the United States. Android support is coming soon.

Two Scores
One Number Would Hide Half The Story.
A product can have decent nutrition and still be highly processed. Ketzal shows both scores side by side, with the ingredient list behind them.
- Processing Score, from Level 1 to Level 4
- Nutrition Score from 0 to 10, when we have verified label data
- The same scoring method as this site

Avoid List
Your Allergens, Named When We Find Them.
Choose from nine major allergens, free with an account. Open any product and Ketzal names what it found in the ingredient list.
Ketzal Plus adds ingredient groups: artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils and more.
Based on listed ingredients only. We can't see shared equipment or "may contain" warnings, so always check the package.

Alternatives
The Less Processed Option Might Be One Shelf Over.
Every scan can show less processed products from the same category, while you are still standing in front of them. Free shows the top 3.
Ketzal Plus shows them all, sorts by nutrition, and leaves out products whose ingredient list we have names something on your Avoid List.

Instant Score
Not In Our Database? Score It Anyway.
Take three photos of the label: front, ingredients and Nutrition Facts. AI reads them and you get a provisional score on the spot, then our team confirms the details.
Your first instant score each month is free. Ketzal Plus makes them unlimited.

Contribute
Every Photo Makes The Catalog Better.
When a product is missing a detail, Ketzal asks for exactly that one photo. A person checks every submission, and each approved photo earns you progress toward the next level and badge.
Seasonal Community Challenges add a shared goal. Some offer a free month of Ketzal Plus when the goal is reached.

Why Ketzal
It is named after the resplendent quetzal, a bird of the mountain cloud forests of Central America known for noticing what others miss. Ketzal does the same on a grocery shelf.
